LANDLORDS IN FEAR OF TRANSPORTING STUDENTS
Monday, 14 June 2021

The Taxi Association of Mbombela has threathened Landlords that are accomodating UMP students and also vandalized some of their properties.
This violent Taxi Association strike that started last week Tuesday (8 June 2021), and stopped late on Thursday it dramatically escalated to tragedy when a driver in Lekazi transporting UMP students was attacked.
This morning, the mid-year examinations were set to begin for UMP students but because of the fear that the Taxi Association have left amoungst the Landlords, this led to fewer students being transported to the campus.
Still to this point, no solution has been found. The management of the University of Mpumalanga has not yet released any communique regarding a way forward. Students are in fear of their lives, same as Landlords and those responsible for transporting the students.
Some students have been seen entering the gates of UMP campus this morning, 'risking' their lives. click here to watch. To listen to an interview that took place earlier this morning click here
